Tried the HTC WiFi Router (#2) and it works perfectly.

    Thank you.

Yes, I was actually surprised at how speedy the connection was. And it sure as hell beats $40/month for the Mobile 3G Hotspot on the Pre Plus (which I was considering because of the tethering capability).

thats for sure and the pre plus will be nice though and there is something similar out for palm once you root the device... kind of like pdanet style thing so they can tether as well.

    Got a question.

So I've tried using the WiFi tethering with my personal laptop, and it works like a charm.

However, my work PC I guess blocks access to ad-hoc networks. (Which is surprising because luckily my company gives us a lot of freedom with our computers, unlike other places I've worked for. We can install whatever we want, etc.)

So is there any way to get my company computer to tether to the TP2? Maybe over Bluetooth even?

i doubt it since they prolly have a firewall or something blocking it from happening... (my work does the block via firewall on the work computers.) you are disconnecting from the current connection on your pc correct?

    Yes, I am.

I tried a bunch of netsh commands in command prompt, which generally came back with something like "you do not have administrator rights to delete this filter". So I'm hoping for a workaround. I know the phone works fine since I can easily tether it to my home PCs. It's just the work PC won't connect to any ad-hoc networks.

yea sounds like they have a block on you from doing that by not giving you access to what you need.. i cant tell you much more since i dont know how they have your computers configured there.
